Post 100 Explorers Hit The Forest

Recently two of our own Explorers from Post 100 , Phillip Konkankit and Chris Aldaba, joined explorers from LA County Fire, Ventura County Fire, Oxnard Fire and the US Forest Service in the 12th annual Angeles National Forest Wildland Firefighter Explorer Academy. The intense 4-weekend long training was held at the Biedeback Regional Training Center where explorers would showup on Friday evening and endure long days and nights until going home Sunday evening, just to return the following weekend and start all over. During their academy the explorers recieved numerous certifications including Basic Wildland Firefighter, S-190, S-130, S-110, and ICS-100. At the end of the academy numerous awards were given out for both top academics and physical fitness, but the most gratifying award was the "Most Outstanding Explorer" award which was granted to our own Explorer Phillip Konkankit.

Congratulations Phillip, and great job to both of you for representing the Department so well and for a job well done!
